Getting Married in the Netherlands

A marriage in the Netherlands may only be contracted if at least:

One of the partners is a Dutch citizen, or
One of the partners is a legal resident of the Netherlands

If both marriage partners reside abroad and intend to marry in the Netherlands, the couple must give notice of their intention at the registrar's office ("Burgerlijke stand) of the City of The Hague.

Please note that all the Canadian and American documents such as birth or marriage certificates and divorce decrees should be legalized (for US documents only: apostille).
