Residence Permit - Foreigners - Netherlands Antilles

Islands of the Netherlands Antilles: Bonaire, Curaçao, St-Maarten, St-Eustatius (Statia), Saba

Foreign citizens who intend to stay in the Netherlands Antilles for a period longer than 3 months (90 days) need to apply for a residence permit.

Foreign citizens that would like to work in the Netherlands Antilles need an employer that sponsors their work permit. The work permit is in addition to the residence permit, these are two separate requirements. In general, a residence permit does not allow employment.

How to apply for a residence and/or work permit

Residence and work permits should be applied for at and are issued by the Lieutenant Governor of the concerning island territory, see addresses below.
  • The person concerned can apply for a residence person him/herself. One of the requirements is that you need to submit proof of your financial means to cover the intended stay
  • The future employer needs to arrange / apply for the work permit.
Please verify the detailed requirements of each application with the authority concerned. Expect the application process to take 3 months.
